Trains Stop as Manhattan Subway gets FLOODED on Canal Street Station

November 21, 2022 MANHATTAN New York – The transit system at the canal street subway station came to a halt on Sunday afternoon, November 20th, as trains were diverted throughout Manhattan after a significant amount of water flooded the canal street station from tracks to platform following a water main break.

Murky water flooded the stations tracks completely after a nearby water main break sent water gushing into the lower Manhattan subway station. The high volume of water caused line disruptions on the 1/2/3 trains that were diverted as a result of the flooding.

MTA Emergency Response Team was out to help with clean up along with water pumping and damage assessment. Several hoses held down by large sandbags pumped water out of the station throughout the day.
