According to police, just before 8 pm, a white van positioned at a red light facing southbound waiting for the indicator to switch green when the van was struck in a head on collision at the intersection of Parsons Boulevard & Franklin Avenue by a Range Rover traveling northbound on Parsons Boulevard in Flushing, Queens.

A 48-year-old man, was located by police in the back seat of the crashed Range Rover, with a gunshot wound to the head. The driver of the Range Rover fled on foot, police said.

The victim with a gunshot wound to the back of the head was rushed to Flushing Hospital and pronounced dead, while the van driver was transported to a area hospital and was last listed stable condition, officials said.

Eyewitness of the incident recounts the moments the SUV driver fled.

We spoke with “Jimmy” an eyewitness of the incident and neighborhood resident who recounts the moments the SUV driver fled. “It looked like an auto accident, but it was kind of strange because the super and a UPS driver, some other people they kept staring at that area and we all looking like what’s going on, you know? I mean, it looks like a car crash. All of a sudden an individual about six feet tall, carrying some bags almost like the ones that I have but bigger one. He was staggering out of the vehicle.”, said jimmy, a neighborhood resident who went on to say.

“New York City has gotten so rotten to the core, that you got now this kind of stuff going on, where criminals are driving around with dead bodies on the back, that’s what it seems like, I don’t know if it was a carjacking, whatever the case”

Police officials suggest the 48-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head did not get shot during the vehicle accident and the investigation into the location where the actual incident took place is still under investigation.
