Off Duty NYPD Officer Shot At During Alleged ATTEMPTED ROBBERY in Astoria Queens

November 9 2022 QUEENS, New York – An off-duty NYPD officer was shot at in Astoria during alleged robbery, early Wednesday morning, police said.

Officials said that the off duty officer was getting out of his personal car near 23rd Street and 28th Avenue, two men in black hoodies exited their black sedan and approached the cop.

As the officer turned around, a third man who remained in the car, shot in his direction, both suspects fled, police said. The off duty cop was not struck by the gunfire and called for assistance, reporting an attempted robbery.


There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The shooting incident in Astoria occurred than 24 hours after an off-duty detective exchanged gunfire with a man on 232nd Street and Lansing Avenue around 2:15 a.m. in the Rosedale part of Queens on Tuesday early morning.

Police said that neither man was struck by the gunfire.
