November 6 2022 MANHATTAN, New York – A Harlem polling site was forced to temporarily close on Sunday afternoon after a reported Bomb threat was allegedly made online by a student of the school that hosts the polling site, said Assemblymember Edward Gibbs of the 68th district.
The NYPD notified the site of a bomb scare at 1573 Madison Ave, which is an early voting site. Emergency protocols were initiated immediately, evacuating all the staff along with a handful of voters to safety.
“They didn’t give me the details of the language — it was just some student who was mad at a friend and said ‘hey, I got a pipe bomb in a classroom,” said Assembly Member Gibbs,
Board of Elections received the “all clear” from the NYPD., resuming voting at the site.






“This is what we are dealing with. A horrific attempt to stop people voting in a community of color,” said Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine.”
“This was an outrageous attack on democracy,” Levine added.
