October 30 2022 BRONX, New York – Four people including three children have succumbed to their injuries and others are hospitalized after a heavy 2-alarm fire broke out in the Bronx Sunday morning.
According to fire officials, a newborn 10-month-old baby girl, along with two boys, 12-years-old and 10-years-old, died as a result of the horrific morning blaze.
The two boys were rushed to a local hospital but did not survive their injuries. The 10-month-old newborn and a 22-year-old man were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center and were both also pronounced deceased, police say.

The fire reportedly started in the back of a three-story home near Castle Hill Avenue and Quimby Avenue, and quickly spread through buildings. Firefighters called for 2-Alarm level of additional resources to help extinguished the heavy fire, FDNY says.
More than 100 firefighters and emergency personnel rushed the scene that started at 6am, rescuing residents. Three firefighters were also hurt during the 2-alarm blaze, FDNY officials said. It’s also being reported that two other residents were injured during the fire including a 41-year-old woman who jumped out of a window to save her own life and another 21-year-old man who are both listed in a critical condition at a hospital.

Fire was under control shortly before 8a.m. and fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the deadly fire.
That’s tragic. NYC should do an independent after-action investigation to see if anything could have been done better or differently so it won’t happen again.
