Climate Activists STORM BlackRock Headquarters with Pitchforks – Multiple Arrests

October 26 2022 MANHATTAN, New York – Climate Activists Stormed BlackRock HQ in NYC with pitchforks, dumped coal on escalator as security trief to stop and block them.

Protesters blocked the staircase and escalators up to the employee entrance and dumped coal down the escalator and across the lobby to call out BlackRock’s financing of coal.

At least 10 people were arrested inside with heavy police presence. This action is part of a week long #occupyParkAve

“I’m looking at a future that doesn’t exist anymore, because billionaires are only profiting and refusing to acknowledge that I have the right to live on this planet” Hannah speaks as the group occupy BlackRock HQ in NYC, Hannah wasn’t with the protesters, she was a passerby who saw what was happening and joined in. “It’s your planet too” she cried as she stood in handcuffs, today was her first time getting arrested.

The protest is part of a weeklong “Occupy Park Avenue” series of disruptions, which “target the 1% and corporations for their outsized role in driving the climate and inequality crises as the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy approaches.”

Today’s protest was led by Extinction Rebellion NYC, New York Communities for Change, and Sunrise NYC. Other co-sponsoring organizations include 350 NYC, Fridays for Future NYC, Peace Action NYS, Rise and Resist, and Third Act NYC.
