The Dept. of Education employee was working at PS203, Floyd Bennett school in Brooklyn during the time of the incident and shot near the school. The PS203 school isn’t the teens usual place of work but because of his position title, the victim is able to float around to different schools for employment.

The incident happened in the Flatlands neighborhood of Brooklyn around 2:50 p.m. in front of a Deli at 5022 Avenue M and near a school in Brooklyn.

According to police, the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored Lexus and was reportedly wearing a black parka jacket with fur on the hood and zippers that start at the wrist, that zip up to the elbows.

Detectives are working to determine a motive in the shooting. At this time it’s unclear if the wounded teen knew his assailant and was the intended target or if he was a victim of random violence.
