October 10 2022 MANHATTAN, New York – Police are now using dental records and fingerprints to try to identify the victim who was struck by a truck in Midtown and pickpocketed as his body laid under the truck in the middle of the street.
“They took his ID so we can’t ID him,” a high-ranking NYPD source said told NYPOST “He’s a John Doe right now.”
Police say the male victim is in his 50s. He was crossing Eighth Avenue at West 44th Street around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by the truck driver, killing him.
Police received a report of a person struck by a truck on 8th Avenue and 44th street just around 11:30am, on October 6th in Midtown part of Manhattan.
Police found victim under a truck, in the cross walk, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We’ve already lifted prints, and waiting on dental,” police told NYPOST “Thankfully they didn’t steal his teeth too.”
Investigation is ongoing.
