34-Year-Old Murder Suspect Charged in Death of Veteran FDNY EMS Lieutenant

September 30, 2022 – QUEENS, New York: On Friday afternoon, 34-year-old stabbing suspect Peter Zisopoulous was walked out of the 114th precinct in handcuffs by NYPD detectives to an awaiting jail transport vehicle. Zisopoulous was arrested following the brutal killing of 61-year-old FDNY EMS Lieutenant Alison Russo-Elling while the veteran was on duty responding to a 911 call.

According to police, the 34-year-old suspect was charged with second degree murder and also faces weapons charges in connection with the violent attack on the EMT veteran who was stabbed around 20 times.

Police officers were also observed removing evidence bags from the back of a police vehicle that were processed at the fatal stabbing scene and were now being taken into the 114th precinct.
