September 29 2022 QUEENS, New York – FDNY EMS Lieutenant Paramedic Alison Russo-Elling was stabbed and killed in Astoria while responding to a call for help on Thursday afternoon. She was 20 plus year veteran and also a member of Huntington Community First Aid Squad.
The 61-year-old EMS lieutenant was hospitalized after getting assaulted in Steinway neighborhood on 20th Avenue between Steinway Street and 41st Street, officials said.
She was responding to a call for help and assisting a patient, when a relative of the patient stabbed her multiple times, police sources said.
“Someone was fatally stabbed, you can’t even do your job at this point. It’s ridiculous. It makes you kinda scared of going out and doing your daily routine. You can’t even go out there without watching your back nowadays.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is headed to the Mount Sinai hospital where she was treated while in critical condition, later succumbing to the injuries, according to officials.
Police report that the suspect is barricaded inside an apartment nearby.






“I’m scared my I grew up and used to go out in the subway all the time. I drive my daughter everywhere now because I’m afraid for her to go on the subway anymore. How are children supposed to get to these schools that are far away?”
