Abortion Carnival Comes to Midtown: Reproductive Justice Collectives Protest at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC

September 27, 2022 Manhattan, New York – On Monday September 26, “New York City for Abortion Rights” collective along with other NY reproductive justice groups met outside of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown Manhattan for their “Abortion Carnival – Mutual Aid” and to protest against “Witness for life” during the inauguration of the annual church “40 Days for Life” anti abortion campaign.

Police barricades and officers surrounded most of the cathedral perimeter throughout the afternoon. Police stood along the steps of the church looking on as pro choice supporters held signs and could be heard singing “thank god for abortion”, all while church goers and tourists alike entered the cathedral.

At one point during the protest a Fox News camera man attempting to report from the Abortion Carnival had his camera lens covered by a sign that reads “Keep your god out of my uterus.”

No arrests were reported and the reproductive justice collective ended their hours long protest with speeches and peacefully dispersing.
