September 2 2022 MANHATTAN, New York – Two activists were arrested during a protest in Harlem, Manhattan where people gathered to protest NYPD response following a viral video showing a police officer punching a woman following an altercation during a gun arrest in Harlem.
After a cellphone video that showed a cop punch a 19-year-old woman to the ground in Harlem went viral, the NYPD released body camera footage showing officer’s encounter with a woman from two additional angles.
“They arrested her and she did nothing wrong” said Jose LaSalle from The Copwatch Patrol Unit, “If that is procedure, then we have a problem, and problem is that we have officers that think they can abuse black and brown communty and nothing gonna happen”.




Incident happened on Tuesday, August 30th, where police say they were trying to arrest a man for attempted murder on West 136th Street near Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard in Harlem part of Manhattan.
Three people were arrested for trying to interfere in the arrest, including the 19-year-old woman who was shoved to the ground, Tamani Crum, police say.
Police described the incident in the following way: “During this encounter, a female acquaintance of this individual began to interfere with the arrest, including striking a detective. The detective fended off that interference and struck the woman with an open hand. ”
Police department said she had been charged with obstruction.
