Heavy Fire Destroys Homes and Argentinian Restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

August 23, 2022 |Brooklyn, New York: Heavy fire ripped through a commercial building, destroying an Argentinian steak house restaurant and several apartments above it. Firefighters transmitted a three alarm response to help extinguish the blaze at 499 Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, early Tuesday morning.

The Cafe Argentino and restaurant was destroyed in the early morning blaze that also injured at least six firefighters. Each of the members of service were treated for minor injuries, and no civilians were reported trapped or injured during the fire.

A third alarm response was transmitted around 4:40am. One hour later, firefighters then had the fire was under control. Several apartments above the Argentinian restaurant were completely destroyed and residents have been displaced.

The FDNY Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating to determine the cause of the fire that was reported at 3:44am and engulfed the Argentinian restaurant early Thursday morning.
