Taxi Driver Beaten To Death After Chasing Passengers Who Tried to Rob Him

August 13, 2022 | QUEENS, NY: Yellow cab driver Kutin Gyimah, 52, died early Saturday morning after a group of passengers, including three men and two woman allegedly robbed and assaulted the cabbie. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Beach 54th Street and Arverne Boulevard in Queens, authorities said.

First responding NYPD officers found the 52-year-old cabbie lying in the roadway with life threatening trauma to the head. EMS rushed the cab driver to St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, NYPD officials said.

According to police, Upon passenger drop off, Gyimah driving a yellow minivan taxi with multiple passengers was robbed by the group trying to evade fair.

The cab driver gave chase on foot after the group of would be robbers and was struck by multiple people. This caused Gyimah to fall and hit his head on the pavement, a NYPD spokesman said

The NYPD are looking for three men and two women who allegedly beat the cabbie. No arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
