Man found dead inside garbage chute in Brooklyn

August 12 2022, BROOKLYN New York – A man was found dead at the bottom of a garbage compactor chute, early Friday morning in Brooklyn apartment building.

A man who has yet to be identified was seen on building surveillance footage engaged in a conversation with another male just moments before the victim opens the chute.

Soon after the unidentified man opens the hatch, a woman joins the two males and appears to be assisting the man as he sits in the open hatch to the chute in the moments leading up to his fall, as reported by the NYPOST

The incident was reported just after 4 a.m., on Gates Avenue near Marcus Garvey Boulevard at the Medgar Evers apartments in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.

EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene. The official cause of death has yet to be determined and investigation into the incident is ongoing.
