July 19, 2022 | Manhattan, New York: Tuesday afternoon, two teenage boys, 15 and 14, were shot by an unknown assailant after leaving a deli in Manhattan. Police from the 25th precinct located a wounded 15 year old male after a good samaritan stopped to render aid to the injured teen in distress.
As gunfire rang out, the two young men tried to getaway, 14-year-old Justin Streeter, of Plainfield was on a push scooter as he attempted to flee the gunman. The teen tried to dodge gun fire while ducked in between two vehicles but the young man was struck in the head and suffered a serious life threatening injury. Streeter was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he could not be saved and subsequently died of his injuries, police said.
At approximately 4:22pm, the two young teens were shot near Park Avenue & E128th street after stopping for snacks at a East Harlem deli. After leaving the deli located on E128th Street between Lexington and Park Avenue, a lone gunman appeared on the street corner as the teens were walking towards the perpetrators direction when the teens were fired upon.
As officers arrived at their location, in the process of establishing a crime scene and closing off the area, police officials say officers found the 14-year-old lying unresponsive in between two vehicles in the roadway. A rush for EMS was requested and both teens were transported to a nearby hospital.
According to police the 15-year-old male was able to get away from the perpetrator but was shot in the left leg during the process of fleeing. He is expected to survive his injuries. The good samaritan was also one of the 911 callers.
The suspect fled the scene and there are no arrests at this time. The investigation into this shooting is ongoing
