“Eric Garner Way” Street Renaming in Staten Island

July 16 2022 STATEN ISLAND, New York – Eric Garner, who died during an by NYPD arrest in Staten Island eight years ago, was honored at a street naming ceremony on Saturday, July 16.

The street sign Eric Garner way is placed near 202 Bay Street, where he died as he was in a choke hold of NYPD officer.

Garner’s family, government officials and community members gathered at 1pm today to witness the unveiling organized by the Eric Garner Foundation.
