Serial Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Manhattan

July 12 2022 Manhattan, New York – Suspect was walked out of NYC precinct after being charged in multiple stabbings of sleeping homeless people on New York City streets, that occurred within one week.

Trevon Murphy, 40, is seen escorted by detectives out of NYPD’s 6th Precinct in handcuffs and shackles to an awaiting jail transfer vehicle. The 40-year-old suspect was charged with Murder, two counts of Attempted Murder and Assaults, according to police.

During a press conference held Wednesday morning, police officials stated that 40-year-old Murphy, who is also a homeless individual was arrested in Harlem early Wednesday morning.

According to police, a vigilant community member notified nearby officers about observing a person who matched the serial stabbers description. Officer located the suspect at a nearby bus stop and Murphy was arrested without incident. Officers also located a knife in his possession, cops said.

The suspect wanted in connection to three stabbing incidents. The first began on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 around 3am, just opposite of 374 West 11 Street on the Hudson River Park walkway, a 34-year-old victim was lying on a bench, when an alleged suspect approached him and started stabbing the victim in the upper right abdomen. Victim was taken to local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On July 8, 2022 at around 10pm at Madison Avenue and East 49 Street a 59 year old victim was lying on a bench when an alleged suspect male stabbed him in the stomach. The victim was taken to the hospital and survived the injuries.

On July 11, 2022 at around 3:30am inside of Stanley Isaac Playground, a 28 year old victim was lying inside of the park when she was also stabbed in the stomach by the alleged suspect. He was transported to Metropolitan Hospital in stable condition.
