June 26, 2022 | STATEN ISLAND, NY: Rudy Giuliani was allegedly slapped, as described by Giuliani, in the back by a ShopRite employee in Staten Island, who spoke up over the recent abortion ruling.
The former New York City Mayor was randomly approached by the supermarket worker who was on duty at the time. Giuliani was mid conversation with supporters inside of the store, while out campaigning for his son, who is running for the Republican nomination for New York governor, when he was approached by the employee.
“He hit him so hard, that I felt it” -Drita Rugova
“I was shoulder to shoulder with Giuliani” said Drita Rugova, who came up to Giuliani to take a photo with him, when it’s at that moment a shop rite worker “Slapped him on the back, toward the neck” of the former mayor, saying “Hey you Fuckin scum bag!” according to her. Drita added, “He hit him so hard, that I felt it”
Surveillance video was later released, showing what appears to be a worker coming up to Giuliani and putting his hand on his back, as Giuliani stood next to Drita. Drita appears to react and pat ex-mayor on the back in response.
A 39-year-old store employee was arrested at the scene and will be charged with second-degree assault involving a person over age 65, police said
NY gubernatorial candidate Andrew Giuliani has issued the following statement:
“Innocent people are attacked in today’s New York all of the time. This particular incident hit very close to home. The assault on my father, America’s Mayor, was over politics. We will not be intimidated by left wing attacks. As governor I will stand up for law and order so that New Yorkers feel safe again. This message has resonated with voters throughout my campaign, leading up to Tuesday’s primary.”
There has been online calls to raise bail funds for the arrested employee.
