June 21, 2022 – STATEN ISLAND, New York: A 22-year-old individual was shot in the head inside a Staten Island Deli on Tuesday afternoon. The victim was left in critical condition.
At approximately 6:01 pm police responded to 35 Victory Blvd where a person was reportedly shot in the head and seriously injured, according to police.
Due to serious condition of the victim, a rush for EMS was requested to the scene. The victim was rushed by emergency crews to a local Hospital, in a serious condition.
Shooting occurred near Bay Street & Victory Blvd at the Elegant Deli on Staten Island. Witnesses say chaos and screaming ensued following the shooting where at least one person was critically wounded.
“I just heard two gunshots and I looked over and kids were running, that was it really. There’s a little boy that got shot outside the store. That’s it, I heard the gunshots and seen running, that was it.” said a witness near the scene of the shooting.
A police investigation determined that a young 22-year-old male was shot and not a “little boy” like the witness recounted.
Police are searching for a suspect that they say fled the scene towards Monroe avenue. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation into this shooting is preliminary.
