Uvalde Victims Memorial in Staten Island, New York – “21 Cardinals”

June 01, 2022 | STATEN, ISLAND NY: Artist & activist Scott LoBaido unveils “21 Cardinals” a memorial art installation, dedicated to victims of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.

“They bring love and peace, to let you know that they’re okay.”

“The Cardinals symbolize, you know, when someone passes. If you’ve had a death in the family recently for some reason a red Cardinal shows up. And I lost my mom a couple years ago and I was like yeah, whatever, you know, people say different things and then this Cardinal just kept coming in the yard, and it was pretty powerful. So I needed an accent and that was it. It just came to me, red cardinals.” LoBaido said.

LoBaido went on to explain the significance of the cardinals in his art piece.

“That’s the meaning of the red cardinal is that it’s a message from you know the departed that we lost. It’s a message of love that they bring, they bring love and peace, to let you know that they’re okay.”

On display for the next 10 days on the grounds of Mount Loretto in Staten, Island, NY
