18 Injured in STAMPEDE as Shooting Scare Causes Crowd to Run out of Barclay’s Center

May 28, 2022 | BROOKLYN, NY: A mass casualty event was called by NYPD on police radio transmissions as reports of a child trampled & several others injured initially started to pour in due to fireworks mistaken for an active shooter situation at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn late Saturday evening.

The false report of an active shooter at the venue sent crowds running back into the stands and throughout the venue after a boxing match between Geranto “Tank” Davis and Rolando “Rolly” Romero.

Fireworks allegedly occurred on the concourse outside the venue as people were leaving the match which caused crowds to panic and run back inside venue causing several injuries. Officers from the 78th Precinct, responded and confirmed the active shooting call was false and no shots were fired.

According to police at least 18 people suffered minor injuries during the chaos of the crowd surge and were transported by EMS to area hospitals for evaluation, cops said.

The false active shooter scare at Barclays comes on the heels of two of the deadliest shootings the U.S. has seen and less than a week from the massacre in Uvalde, Texas where 21 people were killed.
