Three Killed in Crash After Leaving Sweet 16 Party on Long Island

May 22, 2022 | LONG ISLAND, NY: Three women were killed in a vehicle crash that occurred on Jericho Turnpike following a Sweet 16 party on Long Island, police said. According to officials, 22-year-old Dante Lennon was allegedly intoxicated while driving a Mercedes Benz that crashed into a Lincoln Town Car taxi with around five passengers.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Nassau County Police responded to calls of a accident at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and South 3rd Street. Upon police arrival, officers found three female back seat passengers killed as a result of the collision. The taxi driver, along with two additional passengers were also seriously injured and taken to area hospitals where they are listed in stable condition.

“Right away, I just see a Mercedes-Benz coming through, crashing into an Uber driver that was turning,” a distraught Table 7 employee Jaylen Augustin said to FNTV.

Augustin went on to describe the scene, “It looked like a T-bone, a little bit, and it was devastating.” Jaylen said. “Very disturbing, never seen that ever in my life,”… “Why would that happen? I just can’t believe it.” said the employee to our FNTV Journalist.

All taxi riders and victims of the crash were leaving from The Inn At New Hyde Park after attending a Sweet 16 party when the Mercedes Benz on the Jericho Turnpike slammed into them.

22-year-old Lennon who was also injured during the crash and taken to an area hospital has since been charged with driving while intoxicated, three counts of vehicular manslaughter and vehicular assault.

  1. It wasn’t just a sweet 16 party they were leaving, they were leaving their granddaughters sweet 16 party so on the most special night of her life she lost her grandma and two aunties. It’s outrageous that our young culture today is that it’s OK to smoke up drink and drive like you’re on a race track, it’s prevalent it’s everywhere and not enough is being done about it. One young man’s stupidity has destroyed multiple families.
