Queens School Evacuated after Bomb Threat

April 25, 2022 | QUEENS, NY: Just after 11:30am, police responded to a report of a suspicious device in the locker of a student at St. Francis Preparatory School at 61-00 Francis Lewis Boulevard, in the Fresh Meadows neighborhood of Queens.

Upon arrival, police and faculty evacuated students from the school. Specialized NYPD units were also requested to the scene to aid in the investigation of a possible suspicious device on campus grounds of the Queens private school, police said.

“I’m just hoping that, you know, they can take better care of these kids, everybody can kind of come to their senses regarding all this violence that’s been happening in New York recently.” -John Gomez

We spoke with John Gomez, a construction developer and community member who shared his thoughts to hearing about the school evacuation due to a suspicious device.

“I’m just hoping the kids are all right and everybody’s okay at the school, you know. After hearing about the bomb threat, I hope it’s something that’s not credible and not something that was actually done.” John went on to say.

“We see all this uptick in crime and people being randomly assaulted. The guy not too long ago on the train with the shooting, also had supposedly explosive devices. You know, the NYPD does a great job. I’m just hoping that, you know, they can take better care of these kids, everybody can kind of come to their senses regarding all this violence that’s been happening in New York recently.”, said Mr. Gomez.

According to police an investigation for a suspicious device was conducted and determined the report to unfounded. NYPD did not locate any evidence to suggest of a dangerous device on the campus.
