Police Shoot A Man They Say Wielded Machette in Astoria

April 11 2022 – ASTORIA, QUEENS: A 27-year-old male was shot by NYPD officers after police responded to a domestic disturbance incident Monday morning at an apartment building in Astoria, Queens, cops said. Police opened fire on a a suspect allegedly wielding a machete near Broadway & 33rd street in Astoria.

The incident occured around 10:00a.m., Police describe the suspect as an emotionally distressed individual. One suspect sustained a leg injury and was transported by EMS. For reasons still under under investigation, the extent of the suspects injuries are unknown at this time.

According to WABC reporter CeFaan Kim, suspect’s girlfriend said that she called 911 over an argument, claims suspect did not have a machete. Kim wrote that girlfriend says her mother was in between him and cops and dragged her mother away and shot him, in front of their young child.

This investigation into this incident is ongoing as this is a developing story.
