April 10, 2022 | BROOKLYN, NY: The Belt Parkway West continued to be shut down late into Sunday morning after a police officer shot at a suspects fleeing vehicle and shut down the parkway. Around 6:40am a larceny in progress was reported on Knapp street. According to police suspects were stealing catalytic converters off vehicles and callers reported the suspects were in a white Porsche.
The white Porsche was spotted by police on the Belt parkway and for reasons still under investigation, was fired upon during an attempt to stop the vehicle suspected in the theft on Knapp street,m. At least one shot was fired by an NYPD officer while outside of his vehicle. No one was struck by gunfire, police said.
Other vehicles were said to have been side swiped and damaged by the suspects vehicle during a pursuit.
According to police officials, only one NYPD Officer fired his service weapon. The investigation into this shooting incident is ongoing.
