Multiple People Arrested as Homeless Encampment Removed in NYC

Wednesday, April 6th: Under the mayors orders, police have been removing encampments around nyc. At roughly 3:30pm, the NYPD, community affairs, and the DSNY removed an encampment in the east village on 9th street between avenue B & C. Four activists and one person whom was homeless was arrested for refusing to leave following an hours long stand off.




Police appear to rip open a tent and pile up to arrest the homeless man after hours long stand off today. NYC Mayor has ordered homeless encampments removed from around the city.


In response NYCLU said “Trying to police away homelessness didn’t work during the Giuliani era and it won’t work now. Mayor Adams is doubling down on failed approaches that hurt and dehumanize unhoused New Yorkers.”

NYPD arrested a total of six people after hours of stand off.
