16-year-old Shot Blocks From Queens Highschool

A 16-year-old was shot in the arm and a pair of teenage suspects are in custody for questioning following a shooting in Queens Friday afternoon. According to police, shots rang out just after 3:00p.m. near the corner of Springfield Boulevard and Horace Harding Expressway in the Bayside neighborhood of Queens.

Police officials said the victim was approached by a group of suspects and fired upon, striking the 16-year-old at least once in the right arm. The group of suspects shortly after fled the location. Benjamin Cardozo High School went under lockdown for a short period of time due to the close proximity of the shooting, just three blocks south of the incident location.

Officers from the 111th precinct responded to the shooting and EMS transported the teen victim to Cohen Children’s Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made however two suspects are in custody for questioning, said police.
