March 11, 2022 – MANHATTAN, NY: Just before 5am, an off-duty officer got into an altercation with a group of at least four men at a popular Manhattan eatery early Friday morning. According to officials, the off-duty NYPD officer was injured after struck by a suspects fleeing Gray Dodge Charger at W51st and 9th Avenue following an alleged assault & robbery where the off-duty officers weapon was stolen.
Police responded to a 911 call regarding an assault in progress at Empanada Mama. Upon arrival officers on scene confirmed that an off-duty police officer was injured and his gun was stolen. According to police, the suspects fled north on 10th Avenue.
NYPD detectives are searching for suspects in connection with the off-duty officers gun being stolen during the course of a strong armed robbery.
The injured off duty officer was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital and is listed in stable condition. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
