7-Year-Old Dog Struck by Stray Bullet; Man Shot in The Bronx

March 07, 2021 – BRONX, NY: A man was shot in the back around 3:30 a.m. in the Bronx. The incident occurred early Monday morning outside of a housing project at 20 Richman Plaza. A 7-year-old dog was also shot, hit by a stray bullet during the altercation. Upon arrival, officers from the 46th precinct determined the victims injuries to not being life threatening and the male was transported by EMS to an area hospital with at least one gunshot wound to the back.

After gunfire broke out, Bailey the dog was struck by a stray bullet. We spoke with dog owner “Jimmy” about the shooting incident. The dog owner mentioned that although he didn’t see the gun fire, he did hear the gunshots erupt. Jimmy said he saw the victim laying on the ground, and noticed his dog Bailey was bleeding.

“I heard it, it was so close I dove to the ground. And as I dove to the ground, I pulled my dogs closer to me, to my chest. And I stayed there until I thought it was clear. Then I turned around and I see the young man hit. Then I grabbed my dog and proceeded to my house and I noticed that my dog couldn’t walk.”

Police from the 46th precinct were met by the distraught dog owner, pleading to the officers for help. Police rushed the wounded pup to an Upper East Side animal hospital for evaluation from a veterinarian.

According to Police, two suspects fled the area in black Mitsubishi. No arrests have been made and the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
