March 04, 2022 – DONBAS, UKRAINE: Soldiers on the frontline in the eastern region of Ukraine called Donbas, which is currently under attack by Russian troops, found a small puppy and gave him the name Rambo. Named after the unstoppable action hero, the soldiers said of the pup “He’s our protector” like the one played by Sylvester Stallone. The iconic action movie actor recently commented on a viral video the tiny trench pup starred in, that was posted to Instagram.

“We felt sorry for him, it was freezing outside,” commented two Ukrainian soldiers in the video which was filmed in the trenches on the frontline near Bakhmut, Ukraine on February 11, 2022, just days before Putin began his assault on the country. “He can hear very well if there is a stranger nearby.”
The brave little puppy, obviously a major morale booster for the trench-weary soldiers, each with a big smile on their face. “He used to be so tiny, he could fit in one hand.” There were many other pups and older dogs in and around the frontline trenches, many of them with names and adopted by the soldiers.

After the invasion, we did receive an update from soldiers Rambo stays with, they said, “We are holding on, the soldiers are determined to hold back the enemy, and the dogs are with us.”
