One Critical, Two Others Injured in Queens House Fire

March 03, 2022 – QUEENS, NY: A vehicle caught fire in the driveway of a home in Queens early Thursday morning and quickly spread to the house, leaving three people injured. According to firefighters one person was critically injured while the additional two fire victims sustained only minor injuries.

Just before 3:30 a.m. firefighters in Queens responded to 911 calls of a house on fire. Upon arrival at 144-11 68th Road, firefighters located a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a home in the New Gardens Hills neighborhood of Queens.

Firefighters advised that they stretched at least one line during operation to combat the fire. EMS rushed the individual with life threatening injuries to an area hospital. The additional two received minor injuries and were also transported to a nearby hospital, Fire officials said,

“I figured that nobody was even aware of it, so I just had to call 911 right away.” -Bakery Worker Rachel

We spoke with Rachel, a worker at the nearby Queens Pita Bakery who called 911 and potentially helped save the lives of the people inside of the burning home.

“Suddenly I saw a fire, a big fire, so I figured that nobody was even aware of it so I just had to call 911 right away. And the fire went up and up and up.” said Rachel.

Just before 3:50am firefighters advised that the fire was extinguished. The investigation into the official cause of the blaze is still ongoing.
