Bronx Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Home and Displaces Residents

February 28, 2022 Bronx, N.Y.: At approximately 11:40 p.m. Firefighters responded to 911 calls for a heavy fire at 2140 Ellis Avenue in the Unionport section of the Bronx. Upon arrival fire crews observed heavy black smoke and fire on the first floor of a 2-story home.

According to fire officials, Engine 64 transmitted a three-alarm structure fire just before midnight and additional units were requested. A primary search of the damaged structures was conducted and completed without anyone injured located in the fire.

The fire spread to neighboring homes before being brought under control. According to the Red Cross at least 9 people along with 2 pets have been displaced from the building fire.

No member of service injuries were reported and the official number of injuries is unknown at this time. Fire marshals are working to determine the cause of this fire, an investigation is underway.
