“I was riding my bike coming down the street and then I saw flames shooting out from the bottom floor. I guess it was from the Deli? And then I called the fire department and they put me on the line with Brooklyn Fire Department dispatch and basically when I called it in, I gave the address, where it was and they said they’re gonna be on the way. Within two minutes, I heard the first units come around, and they started setting up the ladders and stuff.

I believe that somebody else, I believe it was this guy over there. Yeah, he ran up to me, and he was like, “there could be somebody trapped upstairs” or whatever. So while I was on the phone with the dispatcher, I basically told them that there could possibly be somebody trapped on the above floors. So that was pretty much it. The fire kind of extended through the building, but they pretty much knocked it down before it could go to the next residence that was next to the building.” Said Darren.

No civilian injuries were reported at this fire and the official cause is under investigation.
