2 Found Dead in Rubble of Brooklyn 3-Alarm Fire and Building Collapse

February 07, 2022 – Brooklyn, NY: At least two civilians has been found dead in the rubble of the 3-alarm blaze that ripped through a construction site at 394 Gates Avenue early Monday morning. A FireFighter was also reported injured in the blaze that broke out just before 6:00 a.m. in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn.

According to FDNY officials, it was initially said that there were no civilian injuries in the vacant two-story building at 394 Gates Avenue. The construction site was fully engulfed and eventually collapsed. FDNY officials battled remaining fire conditions for hours.

In an interview with neighbor Nolan Slay, slay mentioned seeing people recently squatting in the now collapsed structure.

The official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
