Off-duty NYPD Officer Shot After Attending Memorial Service

An off-duty 47-year-old NYPD officer was shot around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Manhattanville Houses Community Center on Broadway near 126th Street. According to police, the off-duty officer was attending a vigil at the community center when two suspects opened fire towards the building striking the 47-year-old in the foot.

The off-duty officer was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital where the 47-year-old is listed in stable condition, police said.

It hasn’t been determined if the off-duty officer was the intended target. No arrests have been made in the seventh time an NYPD officer has been shot this year.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
