January 28, 2022 – Manhattan, NY: A suspect wielding a knife was shot by Duane Reade store security following a stabbing on the Upper Weat Side of Manhattan. The male suspect was armed with a knife and stabbed a male patron of the establishment following a dispute at the location before he was shot.
According to police, The suspect was shot by an off-duty NYPD officer following a dispute that occurred at the entrance of the Duane Reed on Amsterdam Avenue and West 94th Street between the suspect and another patron.
The suspect allegedly stabbed another patron in the arm and According to police reports, the off-duty officer gave chase to the suspect as he fled from the location.
The alleged stabbing suspect was shot at the corner of West 94th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, after allegedly turned towards the officer and refusing to drop his weapon. The off-duty officer pulled his service weapon and fired one shot, police said.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. A knife was also recovered at the scene.
