January 25, 2022 – Bronx, NY: Just after 1:00 a.m., NYPD officers in the Bronx responded to 911 calls of a disturbance that occurred at the Horizon Juvenile Center on 560 Brook Avenue. Around 8 individuals were taken into police custody following reports of staff allegedly being assaulted by juveniles armed with glass.
According to officials, police initially responded to the juvenile center for a report of a barricaded subject. NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit also responded to the scene.
The status of the staff or any injuries that might of occurred during the incident are currently unknown and the investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
