“No Class Cancelation, No Layoffs” – Cuny Teachers and Students push back against in-person Mandate

January 24, 2022 Students, Teaching staff, and their supporters gathered outside of the CUNY Central building in New York City Monday afternoon to push back against a 70% in-person mandate for the Spring 2022 school semester following the latest Covid-19 surge.

The CUNY administration has established a student vaccine mandate in order to have a 70% population at the University by the spring 2022 semester while students and faculty are championing for a remote transition into 70% in-person classes.

According to the FAQ section on vaccination mandates of the CUNY website, Governor Hochul announced CUNY students are required to be vaccinated and or have received a booster shot when eligible, if planning on taking in-person or hybrid classes in Spring 2022.
