January 22, 2022 Manhattan, NY: Abortion rights activists gathered Friday evening at St Patrick’s Cathedral on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade to highlight legislation that affects women’s access to essential medical health care.
The dozens that gathered were also said to be protesting against the Archdiocese of New York’s “Prayer Vigil for Life” at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. and disrupt the proceedings with chants as they held signs and banged on pots in front of the church. Musicians played drums as others in the group chanted to counter the harassment of Planned Parenthood patients.
“This church today was basically them like mourning the anniversary of Roe vs Wade, as they’re against it. The cardinal whom did the service, encourages going to clinics and harassing patients. St. Patrick’s Cathedral encourages invading clinics and harassing patients outside of clinics. This cardinal and all these people that are coming out of the church , support him and they support taking away people with uterus rights.” a speaker addressing the group said.

A large police presence stood around barricades that surrounded the demonstration. Protesters would also encounter a set of male antagonist who called people in the group protesting “Murderers!”
As church goers walked out of evening service, women’s rights supporters could be heard chanting “Thank God for Abortions!” One alleged member of the church asked the group protesting why they were being so aggressive, as he shouted at them.
The group of activists and supporters eventually dispersed after church services ended. NYPD officers would open up the sidewalk again and no arrests were made.
