Police Officer Wilbert Mora has Succumbed to his Injuries Following Deadly Shooting

January 25, 2022 – MANHATTAN, New York: NYPD Officer Wilbert Mora, has officially passed away due to his injuries sustained during a shooting with a suspect in an alleged ambush Friday evening in Harlem. The 27-year-old Officer who has been “clinging to life” in a Manhattan Hospital since last Friday evening, joined the New York Police Department just four years ago.

Jason Rivera a 22-year-old, Police Officer working with Mora last Friday evening was also killed in the line of duty. Both were involved in third shooting incident with NYPD officers in less than 72 hours.

According to initial reports, police were answering a 911 call for a domestic dispute between a mother and son when gunfire was exchanged between Officers and the 47-year-old suspect Lashawn McNeil, after McNeil allegedly fired upon responding officers first.

The suspect was shot by NYPD Officer Sumit Sulan at the domestic violence call and died Monday after being listed in critical condition since last Friday, police said. Sulan has been an officer for less than 1 year and is struggling with the loss of life.

Early reports suggested that two officers were killed however that report was updated by NYPD officials and the second officer was listed to be in critical condition, according to the New York Times article.

The two NYPD officers were rushed by police vehicle to Harlem Hospital where the 22-year-old officer did not survive his injuries. A second officer is in critical condition.

Police initially called a Level 3 Mobilization and requested a large force of backup, but the incident that occurred at 119 W 135th St. in the West Harlem neighborhood of New York City was downgraded to a Level 1 Mobilization.


Traffic was shutdown in and around 135th street and Lenox. This is the third police involved shooting in 48 hours.

January 20, 2022 Staten Island, New York – An NYPD Lieutenant officer and a suspect were shot in Staten, reportedly during a search warrant early Thursday morning. The shooting incident occurred around 6 a.m., the officer was rushed to a nearby hospital and is listed in stable condition, said police.

January 20, 2022 Bronx, NY: According to police officials, 47th precinct officers responded to reports of a man shooting a firearm near Shoelace park in the Bronx Thursday afternoon.
