1 Woman Injured, an Additional Male Driver in Custody Following Multi Car Collision

January 21, 2022 – Manhattan NY: Just after 1:30 p.m. A witness said to us that a male driver of a black BMW was allegedly operating his vehicle erratically and at a high rate of speed. This lead up to a crash that left a female motorist injured and briefly pinned in her vehicle.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call of a person possibly trapped in a vehicle crash near 327 St Nicholas Avenue, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

According to police, first arriving officers confirmed that a female motorist was trapped inside her vehicle due to the crash and once extracted was then transported by EMS to a nearby Hospital. The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The male driver of the BMW was taken into police custody shortly after attempting to flee the scene on foot. Its unknown at this time if he too was injured in the crash.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
