Sentence Announced: Three Men Convicted of Killing Ahmaud Arbery

Sentences have been announced for the three men convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery in Brunswick Georgia. Sentencing is as follows:

Travis McMichael – LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE + 20 YEARS

Gregory McMichael – LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE + 20 YEARS

William Bryan – LIFE WITH PAROLE

December 07, 2022 – Brunswick, Georgia: On Friday morning at the Glynn County Courthouse people gathered to hear the judge determine if Greg McMichael, his son Travis McMichael, and their neighbor William Bryan are sentenced with or without the possibility of parole.

A jury found all three men guilty in the murder of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery back in February of 2020. The men were announced to have a minimum sentence of life in prison and a judge was to decide if that sentence comes with or without parole.

Linda Dunikoski, the lead prosecutor on the case asked Judge Timothy Walmsley for life sentences on all three men. Members of Arbery’s family including his mother also addressed the court to plead with Judge Walmsley for tougher sentencing.

Arbery was killed on February 23, 2020, after being followed and killed while by armed men who suspected him of being an intruder on a construction site in the neighborhood they lived in.

Travis McMichael and his father, pursued Ahmaud in a pickup truck after spotting Arbery while out on his run. William Bryan, is the individual that recorded the now viral video on his cellphone of the moments leading up to Ahmaud’s death.

Ahmaud Arbery’s family members sat together in the courtroom during the sentencing while other supporters sat outside the courthouse listening to family statements as they wept.

The New Black Panthers, Armed United Black Militia and members of the original Black Panthers Militia were also outside the courthouse assisting Ahmaud’s family as security, armed members of the BPM stood guard outside of the courthouse.

Travis and Gregory McMichael walked out of Brunswick Courthouse in handcuffed after being sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murder of Ahmaud Arbery.
