“We Will Not Comply” – Protesters Gather as NY Governor Delivers State of the State address in Albany

January 05, 2022 Albany, New York – A large crowd of about a thousand people gathered today outside of the Capitol building in Albany to protest vaccination mandates as New York Governor Kathy Hochul gave her first State of the State address.

The large crowd of protesters accumulated outside of the capital building awaiting the State of the State speech that was scheduled for 1pm.

Activists originally planned to oppose a council session, however it was held virtually and the main session was rescheduled.

After the speech, protesters marched to the Governor’s Mansion chanting “We Will Not Comply!”

In the five months that Hochul has been governor, the former Congresswoman has faced backlash over vaccine mandates and increased gun violence.

Governor Hochul is now facing a surge in hospitalizations due to the highly transmissible Omicron Covid variant.

“During this winter surge, our laser focus is on keeping our kids in school, businesses open and New Yorkers’ lives as normal as possible. We are attacking this virus head-on.”, said the first female Governor of New York.

“I’m setting an ambitious goal to grow our healthcare workforce by 20% over the next five years. And we will make the largest investment in healthcare in State history, $10 billion dollars, not mentioning vaccine mandates.”, said Governor Hochul during her first State of the State address.
