Men wearing IDF Israel Defense Shirts allegedly called “Dirty Jews”, Attacked – People Protest in Brooklyn

January 02, 2022 Brooklyn, NY – On Sunday afternoon groups gathered to protest an attack on two men wearing Israeli defense clothing in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

Two 21-year-old Jewish men Blake Zavadsky and Ilan Kaganovich were both allegedly attacked on 86th Street in Bay Ridge by two perpetrators.

We spoke with Blake Zavadsky about the moment of the attack.

“I was attacked for wearing this sweatshirt and when he asked me to take it off, that I had five seconds. I did not take it off. Then he proceeded to punch me two times. Before running away he threw his ice coffee. I was in shock, like I had no idea what was going on. It’s like Sunday Morning, I thought like I’m just gonna go inside the store, get some sneakers, go home. I guess it wasn’t like that.”

“I hope that doesn’t happen to anyone, no one should be scared of who they are to walk the streets. I should be able to wear this and walk. They should be able, someone else should be able the same way. No one should be scared.” said Zavadsky, one of the two men allegedly attacked for wearing an IDF hoodie sweater.

A counter demonstration was held by rabbis of Neturei Karta to protest a pro IDF rally in Brooklyn.

RabbiIf Yisroel Dovid Weiss with a counter protest group Neturei Karta, says “Imagine going into a black neighborhood with an N-word t-shirt or to a Jewish one with swastika”
