Crowds Jump Into FREEZING Water for Annual Polar Bear Plunge in NYC

January 1 2022 Brooklyn, New York – Crowds Jump Into FREEZING Water for the 119th Annual Polar Bear Club Plunge held at NYC’s Coney Island Beach.

The event of diving into the cold waters of Coney Island is a centuries-old tradition by the Polar Bear Club.

There is no fee to participate in the polar bear plunge however the club does encourage donations for those who plan on taking the plunge.

The funds raised from the annual event are given to the local nonprofit community.

The Polar Bear Club raises funds for the continuation of free public programming, along with environmental and educational programming.

Around 11:30am a person who plunged into the water appeared to loose consciousness.

He was removed from the water with CPR in progress. The victim’s condition is unknown.
