NYPD Christmas – NYPD Community Affairs Annual SLEIGH RIDE

December 20, 2021 – The New York City Police Department held its annual sleigh ride today, delivering Christmas gifts to families affected by gun violence.

The sleigh ride made several stops in multiple boroughs on Monday evening, distributing over 20,000 toys to children over the course of three days.

NYPD officers dressed in costume as Spider-Man and other superheroes interacted with families as they gave out gifts in hopes of spreading holiday cheer.

One of the last of seven stops made by officers participating in the sleigh ride was at the Unity houses in East New York, Brooklyn.

Officers were greeted with joy and cheers from neighborhood children as families gathered to watch a NYPD’s LA JARA BAND perform on the back of a police barrier truck.

The Annual Sleigh Ride was founded by Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, head of NYPD Community Affairs Bureau. The NYPD partners with many volunteers to organize and keep the event annual.

Many of the gifts were donated by organizations, including the First Responders Children’s Foundation and the NYC Police Foundation.
