December 17, 2021 – on Friday evening, a high speed driver lost control of their vehicle and struck a utility pole injuring both occupants. Police received the call of a single vehicle accident in Staten Island just before midnight.
When first responding officers arrived on the scene, they observed two injured males inside a 2003 Ford Taurus in front of 3687 Richmond Avenue.
EMS transported both individuals to a nearby hospital.
According to police, the 24-year-old male driver was taken to Staten Island University South Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The front seat passenger was also a 24-year-old male. He too was transported to Staten Island University North Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The driver of the Taurus lost control and struck a utility pole due to not properly navigating the roadway, police said.













Upon further investigation by the NYPD (CIS) Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad, it was determined the 24-year-old driver of the 2003 Ford Taurus was allegedly traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Richmond Avenue when he struck the pole.
The investigation remains ongoing.
