Brooklyn Deli Worker Killed By Armed Robber, 1 In Custody

A deli worker in Brooklyn suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head during a struggle in an botched robbery inside the Flatbush Deli Corp. & Grocery located at 803 Flatbush Avenue Tuesday evening.

According to police, just after 7:30 p.m., an armed suspect demanded money from the 20-year-old deli clerk and a struggle followed.

During the scuffle, the armed assailant opened fire and struck the deli worker once in the head, said police.

EMS responded and pronounced the 20-year-old worker dead at the scene.

Family and community members who knew the clerk gathered to mourn the 20-year-old man as the investigation into the incident was in progress at the Flatbush deli.

No charges were immediately filed but authorities did take a person of interest into custody. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
