Shots Fired At Off-Duty Police Officer In Attempted Car Jacking

December 08, 2021 – Police are searching for the suspect who opened fire on an off-duty NYPD Officer, Wednesday evening in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.

According to police, shots rang out around 11:30 p.m., when a potential carjacking turned violent. An off-duty NYPD officer was attempting to get into his dark color sedan, when an unidentified male suspect approached him displaying a fire arm.

The quick thinking officer got into his vehicle as the alleged suspect then fired off two rounds, striking the passenger side of the car. The off-duty officer was not injured and did not return fire, police said.

Two bullet casings where found at the scene.

According to NYPD Officials, the incident is being investigated as an attempted car jacking.

Police on Thursday morning are on the lookout for a silver Nissan Rogue and an alleged car jacker described to be a 6 ft, black male, wearing a black bubble jacket.
